Scotland v France

Sunday, 3rd February 2008 - 3:00 pm
Murrayfield

Despite handing debuts to four players, the French team were far too good for Scotland at Murrayfield in this Six Nations Championship opener and looked like the team to beat in this year’s tournament.

Scotland made a good start to match, going in to the lead early on thanks to a Dan Parks drop goal. However, France soon found their rhythm and the impressive Vincent Clerk scored the first of his two tries to give Les Bleus control of the game. Another first half try from Julien Malzieu, along with Clerc’s well worked second half effort was too much for Scotland, who could only respond with a Parks penalty.

France will look to build on this result when they welcome Ireland to Paris in the next game, whilst Scotland face another tricky game when they take on Wales in Cardiff.

Scotland (6) 6
Pen: Parks
Drop-goal: Parks

France (17) 27
Tries: Clerc 2, Malzieu
Cons: Elissalde 2, Skrela
Pens: Traille 2
